Susan Richards, Therapeutic Yoga Teacher

After a slow recovery from spinal surgeries and a decade of headaches, I began practicing Iyengar Yoga in 1997 hoping to manage accompanying physical challenges. Since that awakening moment during my first class, I found ways to manage my health daily but uncovered an inner strength long forgotten. Restorative Yoga, Pranayama, and Meditation have become my solace and passion. With patience, an open heart, and a willing mind, I strive to embrace the gifts of wellness and balance that Yoga brings to each moment; and I am grateful for the opportunity to encourage others to turn from suffering through the modality of yoga.

I began teaching yoga in 2005, have the highest level of certification with Yoga Alliance at ERYT500 and a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider, and am a certified Relax & Renew Restorative Yoga Trainer. I am grateful to have trained with many world-renown yoga teachers; Dona Holleman, Judith Hanson-Lasater, Aadil Palkhivala, Gary Kraftsow, Elise Browning Miller, Max Strom and equally inspirational, those teachers on and off the mat that continue to illuminate my spirit and strengthen my own personal blend of Yoga for Wellness.

"My purpose as a Yoga teacher is to encourage others to seek balance in their lives, awaken their inner light, and find the courage to let it shine."

Since experiencing first hand the healing capabilities of yoga in 1997, I became a dedicated student. My yoga education has its roots in the BKS Iyengar lineage, which over the years has guided me to expand my focus towards finding a peaceful balance - blending mind, body and breath - in all aspects of life - on and off the mat.
